Welder

About this position

The Welder fabricates and assembles sheet metal ductwork and components using TIG and MIG welding processes. This position supports production operations by ensuring high-quality welds, proper assembly of fittings, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal ductwork using TIG and MIG welding.

  • Weld oval flanges and oval fittings, and assist with spiral fittings and saddles.

  • Ensure all weld seams, joints, and connections are airtight.

  • Install taps to pipe, including drilling holes and using a rivet gun for assembly.

  • Cut, shape, and fit galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel components for welding and fabrication of fittings.

  • Use measuring tools, including a tape measure, to mark materials for accurate cuts and assembly.

  • Assemble, weld, and fabricate test pieces for new jobs or product development.

  • Operate equipment such as plasma cutters and shears as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist with general production support during slow periods, including pipe machine operation, flange assembly, insulation assembly, and spot welding.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding gloves, an approved welding helmet, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with TIG and MIG welding required.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements accurately.

  • Experience working with galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

  • Familiarity with fabrication tools and equipment, including plasma cutters and shears, preferred.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as required.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, including bending, lifting, and reaching.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and production environment.

  • Exposure to welding fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.

  • Adherence to all safety standards and PPE requirements.
